Amy Sedaris is reuniting with Jennifer Lopez more than 20 years after Maid in Manhattan

While speaking to PEOPLE at the world premiere of Netflix's Office Romance on May 26, Sedaris recalled what it was like to work with Lopez in the iconic 2002 romantic comedy

She also emphasized how great it was to see Lopez again on their latest project, set to premiere in June 2026

Amy Sedaris is stepping back onscreen with Jennifer Lopez more than two decades after the pair first worked together on the romantic comedy Maid in Manhattan.

At the world premiere of Netflix's upcoming workplace comedy Office Romance, the actress and comedian, 65, reflects on reconnecting with Lopez and the memories that immediately came rushing back from their first collaboration. Sedaris shares that one of the standout parts of filming Maid in Manhattan was hearing Lopez "singing on set a lot" between takes.

“Singers sing. So between takes, she'd be humming or singing,” the actress tells PEOPLE exclusively.

The 2002 film first paired Lopez with Ralph Fiennes in the beloved romantic comedy about a hotel maid whose life changes after a chance encounter with a wealthy politician.

Sedaris appeared alongside a cast that also included Natasha Richardson, Stanley Tucci and Bob Hoskins, and she says the experience of making the movie stayed with her for personal reasons beyond the production itself.

While reflecting on that chapter of her career, Sedaris explained that she was dealing with grief during filming after losing her first rabbit. Even so, she remembers the movie as a meaningful and comforting project to be part of at the time.

“I really had a great experience on that movie,” she explains. “So it was a fun movie to work on because I was grieving. You know what I mean?"

Not only that, but she looks back and can appreciate her "savage tan" at the time of filming in the early 2000s.

"I had a really hot tan during that movie. I really wish I had one now," she quips.

Now Sedaris and Lopez have reunited for Office Romance, Netflix's upcoming comedy that also stars Brett Goldstein.

Although Sedaris says her role in the new film is smaller, she embraced the opportunity to jump in for a brief but memorable part — and especially appreciates getting the chance to work with Lopez again after all these years.

“I like doing things, you get a small part. You get in, you get out, but it was good to see her again,” Sedaris admits. “I hear she's really good in the movie. I haven't seen it yet. But the days I was there and she was working, it looked like real and funny and I can't wait to see it.”

Office Romance will be available to stream on Netflix starting June 5.
