The former Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson are spending Easter apart from the royals, just one year after joining them for their holiday church outing.
King Charles led members of the royal family on Sunday, April 5, as they attended the Easter Mattins service at St. George's Chapel, located within the grounds of Windsor Castle.
Missing from the event were Andrew and Ferguson, both 66, who have kept a low profile in recent months amid mounting scandal.
Andrew stepped back from public duties in 2019 following his bombshell BBC interview about his ties to Jeffrey Epstein, but he continued to attend family events, including holiday church outings and funerals.

However, King Charles stripped his brother Andrew's royal titles in October 2025 as his Epstein links came under renewed scrutiny, including the publication of the posthumous memoir of Virginia Giuffre, who died by suicide at age 41 last year. In the book, she wrote that Andrew “believed having sex with me was his birthright,” describing three occasions Epstein allegedly arranged for her to meet Andrew, beginning when she was 17. Andrew has previously denied any wrongdoing.
In late January, the U.S. Department of Justice released over three million additional pages relating to the investigation of Epstein, an American financier and convicted sex offender who died while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges in 2019. The dossier shed new light on the apparent extent of the relationships between Epstein, Andrew and Ferguson, including their continued communication after he spent time in prison. Appearing on the list does not mean that a person has been accused of any wrongdoing.

Andrew was then arrested on Feb. 19 on suspicion of misconduct in public office. Police are investigating the former Duke of York over an allegation that he shared confidential information with Epstein while acting as a trade envoy for the U.K., a position he held from 2001 to 2011.
Andrew and Ferguson's two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, also attended Easter with the royals last year, but it was revealed earlier this week that they made alternative plans for this holiday with the agreement and understanding of their uncle King Charles. Beatrice, 37, and Eugenie, 36, attended the royal family's Christmas gathering in December without their parents, and it's understood that they are expected to join future family celebrations.

The sisters also will not join the royal family at Royal Ascot in June, the Daily Mail previously reported. Speaking with the outlet, a source said, "I've spoken to my friend who works at Ascot, and they said the girls have been told they can't be there this year."
"Beatrice has taken it the hardest. She's been completely blindsided by all of this," the insider added.
