The Masked Singer has unmasked dozens of celebrities, athletes and political figures since its 2019 premiere
Over the course of 13 seasons, the hit series has crowned 13 winners
Past winners have included Gretchen Wilson, Nick Lachey and Amber Riley
The Masked Singer has had no shortage of show-stopping performers over the course of its 13 seasons.
The Fox show, which premiered in January 2019, has introduced several masked contestants who hide their identities while singing their hearts out. The hit series has featured dozens of actors, athletes, singers and more.
Nick Cannon has hosted the show from the beginning, while a panel of rotating judges have included Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Rita Ora and Robin Thicke. As each season plays out, masked contestants perform and then reveal their true identities after getting voted out.
However, people who make it to the finale don't take off their masks until the very end — including those who are ultimately crowned that season's winners. Since T-Pain took home the trophy in season 1, several celebrities and prominent figures have also won the title — including Nick Lachey, Amber Riley and the season 13 winner, Gretchen Wilson.

Wilson took home the crown while disguised as Pearl on season 13 of The Masked Singer. She later told PEOPLE that she was "absolutely positive" she had lost to Boogie Woogie, a.k.a. Andy Grammer, but she came out on top.
"I thought he was just the most amazing singer," Wilson recalled. "In my head, he had won it weeks before. I was so stunned because I had myself ready to hear that I was second place. I was so ready for it, I had already decided that that's what it should be in my head.”
Even though she "felt bad" about beating Grammer, Wilson explained that the win proved to be the "comeback moment" she needed.
"I loved the chance at being Pearl," she said. "And I separate us completely. When I see Pearl, I don't see Gretchen, I just see Ms. Pearl. But I'm starting to come to the realization that that is me, that's just a different part of me that I don't often show or share.

Before revealing themselves as the first-ever group winners of the singing competition show, the judges shared their guesses that included everyone from The Jonas Brothers to Earth, Wind & Fire to even Boyz II Men.
After their second song of the night, Sam Smith’s “Too Good at Goodbyes," judge Robin Thicke told the Buffalos: “Those harmonies, they make you feel like you’re walking through the gates of heaven."
The compliment made one of the men emotional as he responded, “This has made me feel like, with these guys, we can do anything.”
After being announced as the winners, the three singers took off their masks to reveal Boyz II Men’s Nathan Morris, Wanyá Morris and Shawn Stockman.

The last singer standing, the Goldfish, was revealed to be actress and mom-to-be Vanessa Hudgens in the season 11 finale in May 2024 — which several judges had guessed before her unmasking.
"It's honestly the most incredible thing ever," she said. "I've just been so excited to take my mask off and stare into Rita's eyes and say, 'Girl this is why I couldn't hang out with you. Because I can't lie!' "
"You absolutely killed it sis, you killed it so hard," Ora replied.
"I never knew it would give me the freedom to purely just do something that I love. It's been so long since I've been able to do that," Hudgens said of singing on the show. "It fills my soul, truly."
Hudgens beat out Ginny & Georgia star Scott Porter.

The Masked Singer Season 10 Winner: NE-YO

While NE-YO is known to wear many hats, he added a new notch to his belt this year when he was crowned the season 10 winner of The Masked Singer as Cow.
During the finale, the "So Sick" singer looked back on his time on the show and how it differed from any experience he'd had in the past.
“Even though I’m used to wearing different hats, being here has challenged me in a whole new way,” Cow said, seemingly noting his signature accessory. “I’ve had to re-learn how to express myself entirely, from the way I move to the way I dance. When you get to my level of success and fame, there are certain expectations and pressure to perform the same old way, so it’s been a blast getting to take on this whole new persona.”
For his final performance, Cow sang a rendition of Rihanna's "Take a Bow," after which judges Nicole Scherzinger and Thicke correctly guessed who was under the mask.

On the finale of season 9, the soon-to-be winner, Bishop Briggs, explained that for those close to her, her Medusa disguise would not be such a shocking choice.
"I think people who know me wouldn't be the least bit surprised I'm wearing a costume with a bunch of snakes all over it and looking creepy," she said. "I mean, a cheeky reptilian enchantress is basically my aesthetic."
Following a performance of "Elastic Hearts" by Sia, Thicke told the still-disguised Briggs: "You've been one of my favorites of all nine seasons. You are one of the best we've ever had. Period."
For her final song, Briggs chose "Welcome to the Black Parade" by My Chemical Romance, which had a personal meaning for her.
"The fact that I got to end my journey with my sister's favorite song and sadly she's no longer here, it means so much truly for my spirt and my soul," she said. "I really needed this, so thank you."

When Briggs was finally named the official winner, she called the accomplishment "the craziest, kindest thing ever."

"This has been such an amazing experience just to be able to come out here and be completely covered and let my talent speak for itself," the actress said after taking off her mask. Singer and dancer Teyana Taylor popped out under the Firefly mask to collect the Golden Mask trophy on the May 18, 2022, finale.
"I was like, this would be something really nice to do to just be able to just sing and be fun again and it's just, like, no judgment," Taylor, who'd previously announced her retirement from music, said of why she came on the show. "Nobody knows who's behind the mask and just sing your heart out."
Taylor's then-husband, NBA star Iman Shumpert, won his season of Dancing with the Stars, so she joked of the Golden Mask, "I gotta put this next to the Mirrorball."

After winning the Group B finals, Queen of Hearts, unmasked as Jewel, beat out Bull (Todrick Hall) on the Dec. 15, 2021, Masked Singer season 6 finale. She later told PEOPLE she found the show to be an opportunity to show off the "technical" side of her voice.
"I have never written songs that show my technical ability as a vocalist, which is weird. I don't know why. I'm just more of a storyteller and never felt the need to really show off technically," she shared. "But this show is all about technical ability and heart. And so, for me, that was really fun to push myself, to sing songs I've admired since I was a little girl, songs that made me want to be a singer."
She also credited the show's schedule with giving her flexibility as a single mom.
"It's very hard for female musicians to be moms," she said. "It's not an industry that's very kind to moms. We're always on the road, we're touring, we're promoting. But an opportunity like this, it's so high profile, so public, but doesn't take a lot of time is a really perfect fit for somebody like me."

"Daddy's coming home with a little hardware!" Lachey said as he was crowned the winner of season 5.
The star may have fooled the judges during his time on the show, but his kids knew right away that their dad was disguised as Piglet.
"We watched the premiere episode together and I was holding Brooklyn and I think I got two or three notes out of my mouth and she pointed to me, she goes, 'Daddy,' " Lachey told PEOPLE following the season 5 finale. "They recognized my voice immediately."

Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss made history as the first female winner of the competition. She couldn't help but shriek when host Cannon noted her achievement as Night Angel.
"For a long time, I really stopped singing by myself because you get negative feedback and so it kind of messes with your head," Burruss told the judges after removing her purple mask. "But thank you. So I had really stopped. And I just really appreciate you guys for helping me build my confidence back."

"I wanted to tell you so much," Brady told Cannon after being the last celebrity revealed on season 2.
"This has been the coolest, most amazing, most touching, most challenging weirdest, this is the weirdest — and I host Let's Make a Deal," said Brady, who denied earlier in his season to PEOPLE that he was Thingamajig. "But really, I'm going to take this with me forever."

"I didn't have a chance to come into the game with my natural voice and a lot of my peers did and they get accepted. This helped me get my voice out there," T-Pain said of why he chose to be on the show.
