The View guest cohost Whitney Cummings shook the Hot Topics table when she made a shocking quip about Jeffrey Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell.
During Thursday's episode, the cohosts discussed former Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah's recent comments about observing Maxwell while both served sentences for their respective crimes at a prison in Bryan, Texas. Sara Haines responded to reports that Maxwell received special treatment, saying that "she needs to stay in prison because no one trusts what she says, anyway."

Without missing a beat, Cummings said, "And she's probably trying to not hang herself," while making air quotes with her fingers.
"Stay with me," Cummings said after the audience gasped at the remark.
Cummings went on to make another joke referencing Maxwell's conviction alongside Epstein, a convicted child sex offender who died in prison in 2019.
"[Shah] is saying, 'Oh, Ghislaine didn't talk to us, she ignored us.' I feel like Ghislaine's not a big Real Housewives fan," the comedian continued. "In her defense, she doesn't have a lot of experience talking to women over 21. She wouldn't know what to do herself."

After Cummings said she wanted to see Maxwell collecting "some trash on the freeway" as part of her sentence, moderator Whoopi Goldberg stepped in to offer her thoughts.
"I have a better idea: let's stop talking about her," Goldberg said. "And remember there are women out there who have not had any justice."
The segment came amid the Department of Justice's slow rollout of files related to the Epstein case, which The View cohosts have addressed in the past, both to condemn the government's handling of the matter and to clarify why some of their names appear in the documents as well.

Earlier this year, Joy Behar told viewers that "the list has a lot of crazy names on it," before addressing why she and Goldberg are mentioned among them. It should be noted, however, that neither Behar nor Goldberg has been accused of any wrongdoing."It's almost a way to muddy the waters. So you say Whoopi's on the list and so am I, I think. We're on the list because we were at a party or a wedding or something that somebody [else] might've been [at]," Behar said on the show.
The View airs weekdays on ABC.
